In sports this week, Carlos Alcaraz defeated Novak Djokovic in three straight sets to win his second Wimbledon championship.
Spain also defeated England 2 to 1 win the UEFA Euro 2024 championship, the only country to have won it four times since the four year tournament started in 1960 and Argentina beat Colombia in the COPA America tournament. We’ve got less than a week left in the Tour de France. The All-Star Game is tonight (GO National League!) and Teoscar Hernandez of the L.A. Dodgers won the Home Run Derby last night. The Olympics begin in ten days.

My. Oh, my. What a week it has been. If they weren’t so ugly, these would be exciting times to live in. What the heck is going on? Last time we talked about Schism I, where we discussed Trumpers not really wanting what the majority of Americans want: freedom and the protection of minority opinion/choices. Bottom line, they want what they want. Everyone else be damned. They have no respect for community unless it matches their vision. That, ladies and gentlemen, is Trumpism. AND…that is tyranny. I had intended to discuss the second Schism, this one among Democrats: Should he stay or should he go?

I’m going to gloss over that rather quickly. Key points to remember: Institutional Democrats believe we have to stick with Joe because that’s who we voted for. Practical Dems see the numerous displays of neurological fatigue and believe Biden no longer has any chance of defeating Trump. The Bidensers say “it’s too late, there’s not enough time.” The New Democrats assert that a non-Biden nominee will be younger, there will be a honeymoon period, enthusiasm for the new candidate will soar and motivate the youth and independents to turn out. The institutional Democrats, along with our African American community, feel Kamala Harris is entitled to the nomination. The New Democrats believe there are no entitlements, and certainly not for any Biden surrogate, simply because the new “bullseye” for all of the existing anti-Biden rhetoric that exists, the border, inflation, two wars, Afghanistan, blah, blah, blah. The New Democrats recognize “the old white man” of the race would become Trump, and that can be pounded over and over. The strongest reason to have a new younger nominee? The Trump campaign will not be able to use the four year collection of video they have on hand to make anti-Joe Biden ads. They’ll have just a few months and few files to use in making new attack ads.
However, the GOP has one ready, ready to go. And it will air on televisions in every swing state. Probably every blue state. And its message cannot be overcome.

Let’s listen to Sky News. This is a British owned company that also operates in Australia and, warning, it’s owned by Rupert Murdoch. It’s been touted as an up and coming Fox News. But there are other people on the Internet who describe this new station as leans left. But I’m not convinced.

“So making sure that we’re able to make every single solitary person eligible for what I’ve been able to do with the COVID excuse me, with dealing with everything we have to do with
what if we finally beat Medicare to find them and try to find housing for that? It’s been part of the choice. The idea that they’re going to I’m not proposing that everybody think they know there’s a 1%, 1%. So, no. And after all, I am not raising.”

It’s Going to be a devastating ad and it can’t be unheard or unseen. Now there are millions who have pledged to no longer vote for Biden. They are not persuaded any longer by anyone but Trump, and they will either not vote or they will write in a third party as they did with Hillary. I’m certain the DNC will stick with Biden and ignore the warnings of the unenthused millions, “call their bluff” only to find out too late there was never really a bluff. I believe it’s irresponsible of the institutional Democrats to disenfranchise the New Democrats this way. I’m certain also with a newer, younger, non-Biden surrogate institutional Democrats will turn out to vote for the one who is not Trump.
I can imagine if they could go through the convention, Biden releases his delegates, and then it’s an all out battle among the 50 states to name the nominee. They’ll come out with somebody everyone could agree with.

The week raged on. Some 20 year old kid from Pennsylvania bullied at school, described by classmates as always the political conservative, grabbed his father’s AR rifle, loaded it and fired rounds trying to kill candidate Trump.
Unfortunately, he murdered a firefighter with a young family. One Trumper quickly posted The shooter was a Chinese national who may have entered across Biden’s border. Others immediately said hate and violence are the methods of the woke godless Democrats who are set on destroying this nation.
Now all the Trumpers pretend that they are the party of peaceful opposition. It’s as if they just woke up and never heard Trump say things like, “Maybe we ought to hate more.”
“Go ahead, rough them up.”
“If Hillary gets to pick her just judges. There’s nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people. Well, maybe there is.”
You remember what he said to the proud Boys. (I call them the proud white boys) he said “Stand back and stand by.”
He called the people who pooped on the Capitol floor “Unbelievable. Patriots”
Nope.
Trumpers don’t want to remember truth.
They are a sick collection of voters. Consider all of the data and traditional American values they have to discard to believe as they do. They are emotionally and spiritually stunted, always trying to force things to change, force things to work out the way they want.

But sure, Joe Biden said “Bullseye.”
We, on the other hand, have no desire to force someone to have an abortion, force someone to stand for the national anthem. We don’t insist that teachers have guns in the classroom, lead public schools in prayer, make them look at the Catholic version of the Ten Commandments in class. No, we don’t force cultural behavior. We allow others “to each their own.” That is what it means to be American. Allowing others to pursue happiness their own way. Anything else is tyranny.
That’s it for this week. I was going to discuss that Trump judge’s dismissal of the obvious crimes committed by Trump when he mishandled, concealed and lied about keeping government documents in non-approved containers, some of which were highly classified, but that would have made a long podcast, and it’s going to take some work. Plus,
by the time I come back next week, Jack Smith may have already filed an appeal or something. Who knows what next week is going to bring if it’s as turbulent as this one. Hold on to your seats, folks.
